Sports Radio Network to Webcast 2004 NWBL All-Star Game

Sports Radio Network (WSRN), the exclusive internet broadcast partner of The National Women’s Basketball League (NWBL) Pro League, will present live and exclusive coverage of there 2004 All Star- Game on Monday, February 16 from Fort Collins, Colorado.

The webcast, which will begin at 3:30 PM E.D.T. can be accessed from Sports Radio Network's official website at http://www.sportsradionet.com. It will also be available for on demand listening following its completion.

Coverage will begin with the league’s skills competition, which will feature a three point shooting contest and a slam dunk contest.

“This will be a huge event for both Sports Radio Network ands the NWBL,” said CEO and play-by-play announcer Rob Goldenberg. We will have the opportunity to see some of the best women’s basketball players in the world and the fact that this is the NWBL’s first All-Star game makes it special.

For the last three years the internet station provided exclusive coverage of both the 2002, 2003, and 2004 draft’s and the 2002 and 2003 NWBL Pro-Cup tournament.

Goldenberg, who has been behind the microphone for all three years of the network’s coverage, will be the joined by NWBL Director of Player Personnel Mike Walker. Walker, who has anchored WSRN’s draft coverage over the past three years, is excited about the league’s first All-Star game.

“All the signs are there for this to be a tremendous event for the NWBL,” said Walker. This event is evidence of the league’s continued growth and the excitement it has generated across the country.

Sports Radio Network’s coverage has reached a nationwide audience, and Goldenberg now also writes a column for the NWBL’s official website www.nwbl.com called Rob’s Blog.

“Internet broadcasting is definitely the wave of the future. It’s less expensive than radio or television and the fans are the ones who profit, since they can listen and re-listen to the games, at their convenience,” said Sports Radio Network’s Communications and Marketing Director Andrew Scott.

This past season, Sports Radio Network continued to break new ground formulating a partnership that merged the technology of the internet with that of television. The newly announced agreement was a landmark deal in the structure of producing amateur and professional sports. With a live audio feed and taped video feed, both High School Football and the 2003 New York Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s and men’s basketball championship games reached a wide audience.

“This partnership is unique because it merges the technology of the internet with that of television.
said play-by-play announcer and Sports Radio Network’s CEO Rob Goldenberg. “This partnership will provide the most comprehensive coverage possible, and will also continue to develop the importance of the internet and its emergence as a legitimate form of broadcast media.”
