Sports Radio Network to Webcast 2002 USBL Post-Season Festival

Sports Radio Network (WSRN) will once again be home to the United States Basketball League's post-season tournament.

For the second straight year, the internet-based station reached an agreement with the league and will present live and exclusive coverage of the 2002 USBL Post-Season Festival. The three-day, single elimination tournament, which will be played on the weekend of June 28-30 at the Mark Price Arena in Enid, Oklahoma, will feature the league's top eight teams, including the host Oklahoma Storm.

The webcasts will be presented live and exclusive on the internet, and can be accessed from the USBL's official site http://www.usbl.com, and Sports Radio Network's official website at http://www.sportsradionet.com. Archived games will also be available on demand following the completion of the tournament.

"We are very excited to be involved with the tournament again this year," said play-by-play announcer and Sports Radio Network's CEO Rob Goldenberg. "It will be a great way for Sports Radio Network to increase its exposure and also a great opportunity, for the USBL fans to follow the action."

Sports Radio Network's coverage will feature a special tournament preview show on Thursday, June 27 at 8:00 PM E.D.T. The special will include analysis of the 11th annual USBL post-season tournament, as well as interviews with coaches and players.

"We felt that Sports Radio Network's utilization of the internet could provide the USBL with a far greater reach than any conventional radio station. Last year, the tournament drew listeners not only nationwide, but internationally," said Oklahoma owner and tournament host James Bryant.

Sports Radio Network's relationship with the United States Basketball League began in the summer of 2001. WSRN acquired the broadcast rights of the now-defunct Long Island Surf franchise, and were commissioned to design and maintain their official team website.

After introducing live internet broadcasts of the Surf throughout the regular season, the network then provided exclusive coverage of the 2001 USBL Post-Season Festival, from the Stabler Arena in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

"Sports Radio Network did a great job for the USBL last season," said USBL Director of Operations Ed Krinsky. "We are very happy that Sports Radio Network will be back with us to webcast our post-season festival for our growing group of internet fans."

Sports Radio Network's broadcast team will feature Goldenberg as the play-by-play announcer and Alon Avital, who will serve as the color analyst. The duo has worked together for nearly a decade, having broadcasted high school and college football, college basketball, and men's and women's pro-basketball.

"Speaking for both Rob and myself, we are elated about the opportunity to broadcast the USBL post season tournament again," said Avital. "Last season was a lot of fun and we expect that the tournament will provide the same enjoyment to us as well as our listeners this season."
