Sports Radio Network postpones High School Football Coverage in Wake of Tradgedy

NASSAU COUNTY POSTPONES HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL GAME THIS WEEK

WSRN WON'T DEBUT ITS HIGH SCHOOL COVERAGE UNTIL SEPTEMBER 29TH

In the wake of the tragedy surrounding the terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington D.C., Nassau County has opted to postpone the start of the High School Football season until the weekend of September 22nd.

The decision was made after an early morning meeting on Thursday between the athletic executive boards of Nassau and Suffolk County.

"We feel that everyone is due a certain time of mourning," said Nassau County's Athletic Association's executive director Todd Heimer said. "This event has such far reaching tentacles into our system of kids, parents, schools and communities we felt that this was the best decision."

Sports Radio Network (WSRN), which had planned to debut its coverage of High School Football with a rematch of last year's Conference I Championship game between Farmingdale and Freeport, has also decided to cancel its coverage of the September 22nd contest between Manhasset and Locust Valley.

"Our hearts and minds are with the families and friends of the victims of this tragedy, said Sports Radio Network CEO Rob Goldenberg. "We will be trying to regroup, and will be finalizing our schedule by the end of this week."

As it stands right now, WSRN will debut its High School Football Game of the Week on September 29, with coverage of the Baldwin-Massapequa game.

"We agonized over our decision to wait an extra week to debut our coverage, however under the circumstances we just feel that this is the appropriate thing to do" Goldenberg said and added. "We are certainly all disappointed, but sports takes a back seat to life, and the amount of time and effort needed not only for preperation, but for marketing and promotion needs to be filled with mourning right now."

The High School Football Game of the Week, which will be presented live and exclusively on the internet, can either be accessed from Sports Radio Network's official web-site at http://www.sportsradionet.com or from http://www.sportsjuice.com.
